Our client, a large financial services corporation, is seeking a  Marketing Research Manager for a contract position in Portland, OR.  This position is hybrid with 2 days onsite.  We’re in search of a talented consumer product research professional who knows how to elicit consumer insights from customer 1-1 interviews as well as quantitative surveys, and break conventional wisdom around what consumers want. Ability to conduct usability sessions on online and mobile user experiences, to help digital product managers and designers build great digital products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes a broad range of diverse consumer research techniques to make recommendations on how to conduct consumer insight generation as well as digital experience usability research
  • Is versed in designing and executing qualitative customer 1-1 or focus group sessions, as well as quantitative research surveys
  • Champions the use of Design Thinking process, especially Empathy, Define and Ideate and helps guide teams of product managers and designers to use this process to develop consumer insights and products.
  • Understands the best practices for eliciting consumer opinion in personal consumer interviews and uses that to develop consensus around how to structure the research.
  • Partners with and manages vendors as they execute research studies, including sample definition, questionnaire development, field management, analysis specifications and reporting, timelines, budgets.
  • Champions the use of innovative online services like imoderate.com, usertesting.com to perform consumer product testing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing, Product Research, Sociology or Psychology
  • Three years of Marketing experience
  • Strong analytic skills, including the ability to analyze and interpret large data sets from various sources, identify insights and synthesize how these insights impact the business and related strategy
  • Two years of experience in consumer product research, conducting both qualitative and quantitative research.                            
  • Two years of experience in some or all aspects of survey development and questionnaire design
  • Two years of experience in Data analysis and reporting: Data query, statistical analysis, writing/presentation of detailed reports/presentations
  • Two years of experience in Project / Process Management; ability to take project ownership, lead meetings with confidence and organize small to medium-sized projects from start to finish.
  • Resourceful self-starter and team player comfortable in a matrix reporting environment working on multiple priorities simultaneously; works with a high degree of independence                                                                                                                                                         
  • Strong  problem solving skills; comfortable tackling undefined issues/areas and makes grounded assumptions when developing solutions                                                                                                           
  • Strong writing and presentation skills including the ability to present research plans, recommendations and conclusions based on research insights.
    Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in Consumer Product Research across a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Research experience must include research design, execution and dissemination of findings.
  • Three years of experience in Data analysis and reporting: Data query, statistical analysis, writing/presentation of detailed reports/presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Three years of experience in Survey development and questionnaire design
  • Three years of experience in vendor management: RFP development, vendor vetting, contract management, project management and post mortem analysis
  • Three years of experience in Project / Process Management
